How to Start SINning
NOTE: All official SIN chapters are sanctioned by SIN International, the governing body of Strength In Numbers. We do this to help ensure that there is only one SIN chapter serving a particular city or region, and to encourage guys to join any other existing local poz social group first before seeking to start their own SIN chapter. Our goal is to help guys find support whether from an official SIN chapter or some other equally supportive poz social group.
Follow these steps to start a chapter of SIN in your town:
Step 1
Check existing SIN chapters and other local poz social groups to make sure your city is not covered already by a group. Your town or area may be part of a larger group, and sometimes we may ask that you join that existing group. A list of SIN chapters can be found on the SIN Cities page, and a list of local poz social groups can be found on the Links & Poz Groups page.
Step 2
Contact SIN International by sending a request to the following email address:
You must get official authorization first from SIN International before starting a SIN chapter. Please include your name, the city where you want to start a chapter, and some background information on yourself about why you would make a good chapter leader. You must also be willing to commit to moderate the new chapter for at least 1 year (including organizing events, promoting the new group locally, and actively moderating the group's message board). We ask that you also agree to abide by the SIN mission statement and principles, as well as any official guidelines from SIN International. (Trust us, we rarely find it necessary to give much advice to chapter moderators; you're big boys!)
Step 3
Once we have granted the request, we will create an official Yahoo Group for your new SIN chapter and make you a moderator. We strongly encourage chapters to have at least one alternate moderator, particularly for larger cities. And then you can start SINning and help poz guys in your city build a fantastic poz social support network!
